Electrolysis and Epilators

People have begun to look for permanent solutions to the removal of unwanted hair from the body. Much to the deliverance of the common man many such developments have been made that offer a permanent solution to get rid of the unwanted hair on the body. One of these ways is by means of electrolysis. The technique was developed by a man called Charles Michel in the year 1869. It can be applied to almost all the parts of the body including the legs, thighs, abdomen, face etc. The method has undergone many new developments since its inception.

Amongst all the methods of permanent hair removal electrolysis is the only approved form. It has the approvals by both the Food and Drug Administration and the American Medical Association. There are different techniques within this broad technique and the most common of these is the needle electrolysis. Other methods include electronic tweezers and epilators.

Under the needle electrolysis method a small needle is inserted into the hair follicle. After this has been successfully arranged a gentle current is then passed through the needle. With a combination of chemical action and heat produced by the electric shock the hair is disabled from its roots. On the other hand an electronic epilator does the same thing to the hair but with the use of short wave radio frequencies. Basically epilators destroy the hair growth centers. Typically the epilator device will grab hold of a bunch of hairs physically. Then the hairs are pulled out from their roots. The result you get with the process of using epilators is similar to that of waxing and tweezing only much more effective and quicker.

Combinations of multiple types of electrolysis are performed in order to permanently rid the particular area of the hair. It may take quite a few sessions spanning over weeks or months for the hair to be permanently removed by the means of electrolysis.

This form of hair removal used to be extremely painful but due to the modern developments in the process the pain factor has gone down. Another way to further reduce pain is with the use of topical anesthetics. Using epilators is still a highly painful procedure to go through as the hairs are being pulled out from their roots. But as you move on with the sessions the intensity of the pain greatly decreases. The professionals who carry out this procedure are known as electrologists and they are specially trained in order to perform this procedure.

Generally the process of electrolysis hair removal is considered to be an extremely safe procedure. Although the process is known to be free of side effects the only commonly reported side effect has been the reddening on the skin during treatment. This however lasts only for a short period of time if the procedure is conducted properly. The downside of this process is that it is quite time consuming as each session can last anywhere between 15 minutes to 2 hours. Further more you will end up paying quite a lot as you continue with the weekly or biweekly sessions for electrolysis.
